12 to 18 months.

This is the average life expectancy for a person diagnosed with a glioblastoma, a stage 4 brain cancer, even after treatment.

a surgery to remove the tumor, radiation, and chemotherapy only hopes to extend life past a year or two.

otherwise, 3-4 months is the prognosis if the cancer goes undetected.

Persons with a glioblastoma may not exhibit any health related symptoms, making the cancer difficult to detect.

Glio’s can double in size within 2-7 weeks, making detection almost impossible since the brain can handle some swelling before symptoms begin to appear.

while relatively uncommon in younger people, glio’s can affect anyone at any age.

my goal is to bring awareness to this deadly cancer and how a recognition of initial symptoms can help a loved one get the immediate and proper treatment necessary to extend life past 3-4 months.

also, depending on family dynamics, the cost of caring for a loved one may result in decisions that require reducing or eliminating the caretaker’s work schedule, creating a financial strain for a duration of time.
